Microsoft's Outlook email client now offers AI-generated custom themes to users with a Copilot subscription. The new feature is called "Themes by Copilot," and it's available on Outlook for Windows, macOS, mobile, and the web for users with a Copilot Pro or a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.

To create a custom theme, Outlook users can use a location or weather type as a starting point, then select an art style. When choosing a location, Outlook users can either pick up their own location or choose among over 100 curated destinations. It's also possible to have the theme automatically refresh at a specific time interval.

"Every Copilot-generated theme automatically comes with a fun accent color, and you can further tune your theme to be in a realistic, oil painting, or cartoon style. To help you shape your theme, we created a guided experience that is easy to use, responsible, and fun," Microsoft said today.

Themes by Copilot are available starting today in Appearance Settings in Outlook. They join other Copilot features in Outlook, including email summaries and AI assistance for drafting emails or creating meeting invites.

For Outlook users without a Copilot Pro or Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription, the email client also offers a new collection of themes that aren't AI-generated. These themes are also available in the app's settings.
