A water main break in Dorchester impacted water service to nearby homes and affected MBTA Red Line service Tuesday night.

Video of the leak shows a completely flooded roadway near Dorchester Avenue and Ashmont Street, Boston News 25 reported.

Before 7 p.m., the MBTA reported delays due to crews at the Ashmont T stop in Peabody Square in Dorchester. At 8 p.m., the transit agency said water, from an external pipe, "entered the northbound track area at Ashmont."

The MBTA switched to shuttle buses between Ashmont and JFK/UMass, which were still running as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The Boston Water and Sewer Commission wrote on social media around 9 p.m that their crews were onsite in Dorchester, and that "water services will be impacted."

The commission said just after 10 p.m. that repairs were underway and would be made "expeditiously."

"Customers may experience discolored water which is common after a main break," BWSC wrote. "Multiple services may be impacted. Discoloration will clear once crews flush the system when repairs complete."

No other information was immediately available Tuesday night.
