Girls Wrestling: Battle at the Katy Trail | Jefferson City News-Tribune

SEDALIA -- The Versailles Lady Tigers led all area teams Friday and Saturday during the Battle at the Katy Trail at the Mathewson Center, finishing 16th out of 50 teams with 110.5 points.

Brookfield won the girls team title with 284.5 points. Kearney was runner-up with 267 points, Mid-Buchanan placed third with 246.5 points and Lafayette County was fourth with 230.5 points.

Frankie Shewmaker led the Lady Tigers with a fourth-place finish at 125 pounds. Shewmaker had a 2-2 record with two wins by fall.

Mady Rayl went 3-2 at 170 for a sixth-place finish. She won two matches by fall and one match by technical fall.

Maiyah Hopper came in eighth place at 110 with a 2-3 record, winning once by fall and once by major decision.

Also wrestling in the tournament for Versailles were Adriana Ramos (3-3 at 130), Olivia LaFoy (2-3 at 120), Madelyn Rollins (1-2 at 155), Allie Holliday (1-3 at 235) and Aubrey Sprinkles (0-2 at 100).

The California Lady Pintos came in 34th lace with 40 points in the Battle at the Katy Trail.

Ivy Scroggins topped the California lineup with a fourth-place finish at 190 pounds. Scroggins went 2-2 with two wins by fall.

Others competing for the Lady Pintos were Bella Fulks (1-2 at 140), Ivee Cooper (1-2 at 170), Colleen Elliot (0-2 at 155) and Natalyee Moss (0-2 at 130).

The Fatima Lady Comets posted 32 points to take 37th place in the Battle at the Katy Trail.

Heidi Struemph had a third-place finish at 120 pounds to lead the Lady Comets. She posted a 3-1 record with three wins by fall, pinning Marshall's Sian Palmer in 2:53 in the third-place match.

Posting 0-2 record for Fatima were Journey Markway at 125, Renee Wilbers at 130, Bailey Buschjost at 155 and Bailee Winkelman at 170.

The South Callaway Lady Bulldogs came in 42nd place in the Battle at the Katy Trail with 14 points.

Katlyn Dickison went 3-3 at 115 pounds to place 11th for the Lady Bulldogs. She won all three matches by fall.

Also wrestling for South Callaway were Hayden Watlington, who was 0-2 at 120, and Caroline Young, who finished 0-2 at 135.

The Tipton Lady Cardinals did not score any team points in the Battle at the Katy Trail.

Finishing 0-2 for Tipton were Kya Smith at 130 pounds and Alayna Daniel at 140.
