Angel Reese is facing a decent amount of criticism online for failing to congratulate Caitlin Clark on winning WNBA Rookie of the Year.
Clark was officially named the 2024 WNBA Kia Rookie of the Year on Thursday afternoon. That announcement didn't surprise anyone considering she had a historic season with the Indiana Fever. She became the first rookie in WNBA history to lead the league in assists. Additionally, she became the first rookie to ever record a triple-double. Overall, the Iowa product averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.
Reese was considered a contender for Rookie of the Year early in the season, but the double-double machine eventually lost ground. In her defense, Clark was playing at an absurd level in August and September.
Instead of congratulating Clark on winning Rookie of the Year this week, Reese promoted her latest episode for her "Unapologetically Angel" podcast.
"NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!! WE DROPPED SOME GEMS," Reese tweeted.
Let's just say fans didn't appreciate that post from Reese.
"You lost rookie of the year but you're tweeting this," a fan replied.
"You're not gonna congratulate your fellow mate for rookie of the year," a second fan said.
"Make sure you shout out the ROTY," a third fan wrote.
We're not sure if Reese intentionally snubbed Clark. It's possible she reached out to her behind the scenes.
Reese has said in the past that she has no beef with Clark. Anything you see on the hardwood is simply a product of them being competitive.
"No hate," Reese said. "We're going to play on the same team one day, I'm sure."
We'll see if Reese can talk her way out of this messy situation.
