"She knew he was fu**ing his BFF" - A source alleged that Tim Duncan was cheating on his then-wife with a male friend

Going through a divorce can be incredibly tough. Tim Duncan faced this reality in 2013; however, his experience became even more complicated when rumors about his personal life began to circulate.

A source claimed that the Spurs legend had concealed aspects of his sexuality for years and was cheating on his then-wife Amy. This allegedly contributed significantly to the challenges in their rocky marriage.

"Amy treated Tim like a bit*h throughout their marriage because she knew he was fu*king his BFF. Tim knows Amy was cheating on him, but he's willing to give her whatever she wants because he doesn't want Amy to tell the world that he's bisexual," reported 'Latin Times' in July 2013.

Explosive allegations

Media reports about Duncan at the time relied on the gossip page 'Hollywood Street King' as well as 'Yardbarker,' which claimed to offer 'Sports Rumors.' These websites, certainly not the most trustworthy, based their stories on comments from an anonymous individual "close to the situation."

That person provided more details about the alleged homosexual affair 'Timmy' had during his twelve-year marriage to Amy. It seems the basketball superstar was involved with a man he met -- just like his future wife -- during his college days at Wake Forest. Reports suggest that this friend "shacked up together with him (Duncan), under the same roof as Amy, during their first two years of the couple's marriage."

Additionally, after the alleged guest had moved out, more rumors suggested that 'The Big Fundamental' bought him a house. Meanwhile, gossip also circulated about Mrs. Duncan, alleging she had cheated on her NBA husband with his trainer. Ultimately, Amy filed for divorce on March 27 that year.

'Timmy' actually had a clean reputation

Former two-time MVP Duncan, who retired in 2016, has always been seen as a grounded and scandal-free presence in the often tumultuous NBA world.

As a multiple All-Star, he dedicated all 19 years of his Hall of Fame career to one team, the San Antonio Spurs. The 6'11" forward was known for his calm presence on the court and his fundamental, effective playing style that was anything but flashy.

Off the court, the Virgin Islands native was reportedly passionate about "sword and knife collecting, Dungeons & Dragons, fantasy videogames & paintball."

'Timmy' and his wife tied the knot in 2001 and later welcomed a daughter and a son. However, their marriage came to an end not long after the highlighted rumors surfaced, with the official divorce finalized in August of the same year.

This personal struggle added to the challenges 'The Big Fundamental' faced in his sports career at the time. Just a few months earlier, his San Antonio team had narrowly lost the 2013 NBA Finals to the Miami Heat.
