Dolphins Signing Former Pro Bowl QB After Tua Tagovailoa's Injury

With Tua Tagovailoa's status uncertain following another head injury suffered on Thursday night, the Miami Dolphins are reportedly signing a former Pro Bowl QB as insurance.

Per the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are adding Tyler Huntley from the Ravens practice squad.

As Tua still works his way through the league's concussion protocol, Skylar Thompson is the likely starter for Sunday's game in Seattle. But Huntley being in the fold could give Miami another option if needed.

The 26-year-old spent the offseason in Cleveland before re-joining Baltimore's organization in early September.

Huntley last saw significant action in 2022 when he took over for an injured Lamar Jackson and went 2-2 in four starts -- helping guide the Ravens to a playoff berth.

In six total appearances that year, he completed 67% of his passes for 658 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also added 137 yards and a score with his legs on his way to Pro Bowl honors.

In Huntley the Dolphins found themselves a capable backup who can run the offense for a few games and make an occasional play when called upon.

It's a bit interesting that Miami didn't look into a potential reunion with veteran QB Ryan Tannehill.

But they must feel confident that Tua is on the mend and will find a way back into the lineup sooner rather than later.
