We're nearing the halfway point of the Cincinnati high school football regular season now that Week 4 has come and gone.
Here are the top takeaways from Friday night's action.
Tom Grippa, Mike Engler make history at Milford, Ryle
Grippa, who has 256 career wins between stops at Elder, La Salle and Milford, became the Eagles' all-time wins leader as they scored 19 straight points to beat Loveland in the Battle of Miami Township.
Engler overtook Bryson Warner to become Ryle's winningest coach thanks to a gritty overtime victory against Highlands.

New Richmond football is well on its way to SBAAC glory
The Lions improved to 4-0 thanks to another dominant win, this week over Clermont Northeastern. They ran for 257 yards, grabbed three interceptions and didn't allow a point after the first quarter. They have an average margin of victory of 26.5 points.
Conner football is off to a 3-1 start for second straight year
The Cougars got 274 rushing yards, mostly from Wyatt Hatfield and Cordion Abernathy, to beat Newport Central Catholic, 35-14. After an identical start in 2023, they stumbled to a 5-6 finish. Conner has a chance to make some noise in Class 5A, District 6 and finish with a winning record for the first time since 2021.

Bishop Brossart
The Mustangs improved to 4-0 under new head coach Adam Kozerski with a 38-12 win over Nicholas County.
Cincinnati College Prep Academy
The Lions scored a late touchdown to beat Cincinnati Country Day 50-42, improving to 4-0 for the first time in team history and avenging a 42-6 loss to the Nighthawks last season.
La Salle
The Lancers beat Louisville Central, 7-6, improving to 4-0 for the first time since their state championship season of 2019. Central is ranked third in Class 3A in the Kentucky media poll.
Mount Healthy
The Owls won their third straight game, ousting Taft's comeback effort to win, 20-16.
Newport
The Wildcats played Boone County for the first time since at least 1998 and beat the Rebels, 24-20, to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2019.

Princeton
The Vikings had their backs against the wall after Lakota East scored a touchdown with three minutes left to take a 16-14 lead. The Vikings drove down to the goal line, and Cole Kimble connected on a 19-yard field goal to give the Vikings a 17-16 win. Princeton improved to 3-0 in the Greater Miami Conference.
Taylor
The Yellowjackets beat Deer Park 47-13 in their Cincinnati Hills League opener. Taylor, which has not had a winning season since 2014, improved to 3-1.
Cincinnati high school football's top performing players in Week 4
Eckley Bridges, Hamilton
In a low-scoring GMC tilt, the junior defensive lineman had 5 total tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack, along with a fumble recovery in Hamilton's 7-3 victory over Mason.
Braylon Carroll, Edgewood
Carroll had an 89-yard touchdown run in the first minute of Edgewood's 34-14 win over Talawanda. Carroll finished with 213 yards on 12 rushes and two touchdowns.
Armani Gregg, Dixie Heights
Gregg put up 214 rushing yards (9.7 yards per carry) and three touchdowns rushing in Dixie Heights's Week 4 loss to Covington Catholic. He added a 20-yard passing touchdown as well.
Cash Harney, Covington Catholic
Harney went for five total touchdowns in Covington Catholic's 47-28 win over Dixie Heights. It only took him seven carries to rush for 173 yards (24.7 yards per carry) and four touchdowns, and he added a passing touchdown.
Jarrard Harper, Oak Hills
The sophomore had the best game of his young career, recording four tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in a win over Colerain.
Troy Harris, Williamsburg
He caught four passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns and carried the ball eight times for 81 yards and two more touchdowns in a win over Hillsboro.
Clay Hayden, Beechwood
The senior signal-caller has now thrown for 13 touchdowns against just two interceptions this season after a four-touchdown performance in Friday's 35-23 road win over Simon Kenton.
Carson Lindholm, Kings
Trailing 10-7 in the fourth quarter, Lindholm scored three touchdowns to give Kings a 28-10 win over West Clermont. Added to the three TDs, Lindholm rushed 19 times for a career-high 197 yards.
J.J. Vogel, Edgewood
Vogel, one of the stars who sent Hamilton West Side to the Little League World Series in 2021, caught eight passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns in Edgewood's 34-14 victory over Talawanda.
