Dangerously hot conditions continued to bear down on the Inland Empire this weekend, with highs over 110 degrees in some areas.

An excessive heat warning is in effect through 8 p.m. Monday throughout the Riverside County valleys.

"All inland areas will be heating up," the National Weather Service posted on social media. "We've been hinting at some hot weather expected later this week. Our confidence is increasing in seeing highs near 10 to locally 15 degrees above average. The time is now to prepare for the incoming hot weather!"

Saturday's high in Palm Springs reached 111 degrees, according to the NWS. City-operated cooling centers remain open at Demuth Community Center, James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center and the Palm Springs Public Library through the end of September. More information is available at EngagePalmSprings.com.

Saturday's high in Coachella was 109, while downtown Riverside reached 106.

Hemet reached a high of 108 and the Temecula Valley reached 103, according to the NWS.

Overnight lows will also be at uncomfortably high levels, remaining in the mid-to-upper 80s in the hottest areas.

On Sunday, temperatures were expected to reach 108 in Palm Springs and Coachella, 107 in the Riverside metropolitan area, 104 in Hemet and 106 in the Temecula Valley.

The hot, dry weather was also creating elevated fire conditions across the mountains, valleys and deserts.
