Totally random pull here, but a reader was browsing Philadelphia's general election deficiency list and found an interesting name about halfway down:
John Powers Middleton is John Middleton's son and was born in 1984, so it checks out, unless there's another mysterious "John Powers Middleton" out there who is also 40 years old. The public document notes that his mail in ballot is "undeliverable," so someone get on the phone with him and let him know. What's going on with the younger Middleton anyway? First he abandons a couple of mansions out in Los Angeles, now he's got mail-in ballot issues. Get this man a secretary!
As a sidenote, the document published by the city is 58 pages long and and has about 57 names per page, so that's 3,306 people with errors on their ballots, errors ranging from "no signature" to "ID not verified" and "no secrecy envelope." There's a little bit written about this in a WHYY story:
City Commissioner Omar Sabir said about 50,000 mail ballots have yet to be be returned. He called on voters to take their mail ballots to a designated dropbox; alternatively, they may be brought directly to City Hall or a satellite city commissioners office for pickup.
The city has also published a list of Philadelphia voters whose mail ballots contain errors. City officials "strongly advise" those voters request a replacement ballot at one of the city's satellite election offices.
Anyway, if someone sees Middleton, let him know. You gotta fight, for your right, to vote!
