Bucs' Chris Godwin Off to 'Perfect' Start?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense was a little bit slower in week 2, scoring just 20 points against the Detroit Lions as opposed to 37 against the Washington Commanders. Still, through the first two weeks of the season wide receiver Chris Godwin has been perfect.

Godwin has been as sure-handed as it gets hauling in all 15 of passes targeted his way. Other stats also put him at the top of the league in terms of receptions, yards, and touchdowns. He ranks second in yards with 200 and second in receptions with 15 to start the year, and his two touchdowns are tied with 10 other players for tops in the NFL. Godwin brought in seven catches for 117 yards and one touchdown against the Lions.

And one other thing, quarterback Baker Mayfield has a perfect passer rating (158.3) when targeting Godwin this year.

Before the matchup against the Lions, it was said that former Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis III had the scoop on Tampa Bay's wideouts, but Godwin started working early in the game and it did not take long for him to exploit his matchup.

During a game where Mike Evans didn't produce like we are used to seeing from him (3 catches and 42 yards), it's promising that the chemistry between Godwin and Mayfield is also so strong and it creates an idea that the Bucs could have one of if not the best receiver duos in the NFL.
