6 Big Google Cloud Exec Hires And Exits From AWS, Microsoft And CoreWeave

From the departure of Google Cloud's Kubernetes and serverless general manager to the hiring of Microsoft's former corporate vice president, Google Cloud's top executive lineup continues to shift.

The $41 billion Mountain View, Calif.-based cloud giant is battling against the largest tech companies in the world in acquiring top talent. Google Cloud, for example, was able to recently hire one of Amazon Web Services' AI and machine learning all-star executives.

However, several Google Cloud executives have exited the company to take top roles in competitors such as AI cloud provider CoreWeave.

CRN breaks down three key new executive hires and three recent top employee departures at Google Cloud that you should know about.

Former Google Cloud Position: GM And VP, Kubernetes and Serverless

New Position: SVP of Engineering, CoreWeave

Chen Goldberg was general manager and vice president of Google Cloud's Kubernetes and Serverless business for the past three years. She was a senior director and vice president of engineering at Google since 2016.

"Together, we have embarked on groundbreaking projects like Kubernetes, GKE and Serverless, which have significantly advanced our customers' digital transformation and left a lasting impact on the cloud-native industry," said Goldberg in a recent LinkedIn post announcing her departure which garnered over 275 comments. "It's been an honor to contribute to Google Cloud's journey, building a culture centered around customer empathy and leveraging everyone's unique talents and insights."

Goldberg joined CoreWeave a few weeks ago as its new senior vice president of engineering.

"I've watched CoreWeave grow exponentially over the last year - light years ahead of the competition," she said. "I'm incredibly excited to join this talented team as we accelerate CoreWeave's world-class product development and offerings."

Before joining Google Cloud, Goldberg was director of engineering for HPE's software business.
