The Buffalo Bills have won both of their games of the season, with quarterback Josh Allen taking a backseat.
After only 23 pass attempts against the Arizona Cardinals and then 19 against the Miami Dolphins, the Superman cape is well and truly off in the pass game for Allen.
But why? Putting it simply, the run game has been feasting.
James Cook had 19 carries for 71 yards in Week 1 and backed that up with 11 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns against the Dolphins, while rookie Ray Davis had 29 yards on nine carries. Oh, and the defense was on fire against Miami.
But is Allen content with taking a backseat and allowing his running backs to maul opposing defenses?
"I think given our situation this last week [vs. Dolphins], when we're running it as well as we are and you get the ball kind in really good field position throughout the entire game, that's just kind of the game it's going to be," Allen said. "I think it feels pretty good and being able to hand the ball off to James [Cook] and Ray Ray [Davis] and let them go do some work, and our offensive line is opening some holes from them, and they're running it really hard, and we're having some success doing it so, if it's working keep calling it. I know that it's going to present itself in the pass game, we're going to have our opportunities, and we got to go make them."
When Joe Brady took over the offensive play-calling duties after Week 10 last season, there was a definite shift in the offensive approach. Allen was not asked to be Superman every week, instead allowing the run game to help take the pressure off.
And through two weeks of the new season, it appears that the change of approach is bearing some serious fruits. Of course, there will be times when Allen has to change from the mild-mannered Clark Kent and dust off the cape, but Buffalo appears to be a more dangerous outfit when he's not asked to do it all.

As Allen stated, if it's working, keep calling it, and Brady might go back to the well against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 and be run-heavy.
But having Allen turn into Superman is a nice backup plan to have.
