Prep Cross Country: Helias at Forest Park Invitational

ST. LOUIS -- The Helias Crusaders and Lady Crusaders competed Saturday in the Forest Park Invitational.

The Helias boys finished 13th in the Green Division with 394 points.

Ian Benne paced the Crusaders, taking 33rd in 16:27.7. Daniel Morris was next, finishing 57th in 17:05.9. Ryan Beul was 85th (17:33.0), while Chris Rau (130th, 18:24.5) and Will Voss (155th, 19:33.9) rounded out Helias' scorers.

St. Louis University High took team honors with 63 points. Rockhurst was second in the 22-team field with 79.

Gabriel McLain of Benton was the individual champion in 15:14.0.

The Lady Crusaders finished 18th as a team with 460 points.

Paige Loethen led Helias' finishers, taking 54th in 21:04.5. Lauren Verslues was 77th in 21:26.9, while Lauren Mathews was 99th in 22:11.6. Meredith Buker (134th, 23:47.6) and Olivia Luebbering (142nd, 24:10.9) rounded out the scorers for the Lady Crusaders.

O'Fallon (Ill.) took the team title with 147 points, three better than Cor Jesu Academy. St. Joseph's Academy was third in the 22-team field with 159 points.

Brianna Krueger of St. Charles West finished in 18:26.9 to take individual honors.
