Before winter began, CenterPoint took a suite of measures to prepare, according to a Wednesday statement. Those include inspecting and testing critical equipment, installing heaters and devices to prevent ice damage or buildup, repairing damaged or degraded thermal insulation and water-proofing materials, and conducting emergency training for its employees. The utility has also trimmed approximately 3,500 miles of higher-risk vegetation since August.
