Is DeVonta Smith playing this week? Injury update, fantasy outlook for Eagles' WR ahead of SNF vs. Rams

Is DeVonta Smith playing this week? Injury update, fantasy outlook for Eagles' WR ahead of SNF vs. Rams

Saquon Barkley has been the story of the Philadelphia offense this season. He's narrowly the No. 2 rusher in the NFL and is putting together a strong resume for the OPOY award. If it weren't for Jalen Hurts and the Tush Push, he'd likely be running away with the award on the back of 15-plus touchdowns.

Barkley is having a phenomenal season, but let's not forget about the other talented weapons in Philadelphia. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith make up arguably the top WR duo in the league and they're capable of taking over a game when it's necessary.

The Eagles may be without one half of this duo on Sunday Night Football against the Rams. DeVonta Smith has been dealing with a hamstring injury that may keep him sidelined. Let's check in on the latest updates surrounding his Week 12 availability.

Smith's hamstring injury has prevented him from practicing throughout the week. After three straight missed practices, Smith has been ruled out for Sunday Night Football against the Rams.

Without Smith on the field, the Eagles will lean on Brown, Barkley, and Jalen Hurts to carry the offense in a pivotal NFC matchup. Smith's practice participation next week should provide some clarity on his availability for Week 13.

Jahan Dotson has functioned as the team's WR3 throughout the year and he'll be elevated to WR2 duties without Smith in the lineup. Expect to see rookie receiver Johnny Wilson on the field as a large, physical presence alongside A.J. Brown. If Britain Covey is activated from IR, he's also a candidate to get some work on Sunday night.

Even though a few players will see bumps to their snap share, it's unlikely that they play a large role within the offense. Philadelphia's offensive success will be driven by the play of Brown, Barkley, Hurts, and Dallas Goedert.
