BROWNSVILLE -- GROUNDBREAKING FOR SENIOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING in Brownsville will bring together leaders from Catholic Charities and the City of New York on Thursday, Sept. 19. Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Gail P. Duke Senior Residence, a state-of-the-art facility that is designed for comfortable aging in place and emergency preparedness. The complex includes backup generator power for cooling, sheltering in place, and other emergency needs, and will serve as a neighborhood hub during climate risk events.

The Gail P. Duke Senior Residence will offer 141 Units with supportive services in Brownsville. Expected attendees include Brooklyn Diocesan Bishop Robert J. Brennan; Monsignor Alfred P. LoPinto, president and CEO of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens; Adolfo Carrión, Jr., commissioner of New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development; Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez, NYC Aging commissioner.
