'SNL' Weekend Update: Michael Che Admits Getting Suckered Into 'Goofy' Election Optimism

Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update had plenty to say about Donald Trump's election win Tuesday.

For one, co-anchor Colin Jost joked, "We learned that Democrats actually don't know how to rig an election."

More from Rolling Stone

That Trump won all the battleground states and even the popular vote, Jost continued, makes him "like a character in Grand Theft Auto who throws a prostitute out of the car and drives straight to the White House."

"But don't you guys worry," he continued. "If I know Democrats, they will take a long look in the mirror, learn from their mistakes, and then run Biden again in 2028."

Michael Che said he should have known better than to expect Vice President Kamala Harris to win.

"How did I let you all convince me that rural Pennsylvania would pick the Jamaican-Indian lady?" he asked himself.

"Clearly, I have been spending too much time with you white liberals and your goofy optimism. It wasn't even close! At one point Trump was so far ahead, they put in Bronny," he joked, referring to the Los Angeles Lakers guard, whose father and teammate is LeBron James.

Jost then doubted Trump's promise of a "golden age of America."

"You know, because things turn golden when the sun is setting on them," he said, in what was also a jab at Trump's acuity.

Che, still shocked, jumped back in:

"You all let a man with 34 felonies lead the free world and be president of the United States. That's it! I'm listening to R Kelly again!" he joked. "I already do, but I'm going to stop pretending I don't. If white people can elect their felons, I can dance to mine."
