WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The remembrances for Brewers legend Bob Uecker continue.
Thursday night, the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee was among the city landmarks lit in Brewers blue and yellow in honor of 'Mr. Baseball.' When you drive past American Family Field, Uecker is honored on their sign.
Uecker died Thursday morning from small-cell lung cancer.
I talked with former Brewer and friend of Uecker, Jerry Augustine, on Friday. He says we can thank one person for bringing Ueck into our lives.
"I think Bud Selig seen something in his personality and seen the way Bob loved the game and what he was willing to give back to the game," Augustine, the former pitcher and TV analyst, said. "I think you've got to give a lot of credit to Bud Selig for bringing Bob in. And once Bob got the opportunity to be in that relationship he had with Bud Selig and the organization, it was over. Each year he became a bigger and bigger member of the organization."
Augustine says if there's anything Uecker would want to be remembered for, was he's a Wisconsin guy, a Cheesehead, loves the game of baseball, and hoped you enjoyed what he brought to the radio.
