David Pollack Names SEC Program That Is A 'Legit' Championship Contender

The second full week of the 2024 college football season has come and gone. With it, there were some stunning upsets, including Notre Dame falling at home to Northern Illinois.

The Texas Longhorns easily defeated Michigan in Ann Arbor as Quinn Ewers showed his Heisman Trophy candidacy in front of a big crowd.

On Monday, college football analyst David Pollack released a new episode of his latest Weekly Recap, and he named the Longhorns as a legitimate national title contender.

"Texas proved who they are," Pollack said. "Sark's still good, but the way...It also shows you what you got Year 3 with Quinn Ewers...It was just awesome."

In the tweet, Pollack even said "Sark + Ewers+ LEGIT title contender." Brent Rollins said, "We're we can win it all good," a statement Pollack agreed with.

It was a statement victory for Texas as they went into Ann Arbor and took care of the defending national champions, 31-12.

In that game, Ewers looked every bit like a top quarterback in the country.

He threw for 246 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions Texas scored 24 first-half points to take a convincing 24-3 lead into halftime.

In Week 1, Texas dominated Colorado State, 52-0, and they face UTSA and Louisiana Monroe over the next two weeks in what will also more than likely be blowout victories.

The Longhorns are up to No. 2 in the AP poll after they jumped Ohio State, and they sit just behind SEC opponent Georgia for the top spot.

If the Longhorns can play as well as they did against Michigan, a national title is quite the reality for Steve Sarkisian's team.
