So, this little console called the Nintendo Switch 2 may have been revealed today. After a lot of rumors, speculation, and waiting, Nintendo's next major console has officially been unveiled, and as you might expect for something like this, the internet is ablaze.
While there's currently a lot of talk about specs, games, and that little connector that hopefully isn't as prone to breaking as it looks, something else has caught our attention that we feel you should know about. Namely, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 preview events and how the details about them likely narrow down the release window of the console itself.
At this point in time, we know that the Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to be released sometime here in 2025. In addition to this, Nintendo has also already confirmed that the first big Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is scheduled for April 2, so we'll likely be learning quite a bit more about the console and its offerings then.
After that Direct takes place, though, Nintendo will be holding numerous preview events around the world, called the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience, that will give those lucky enough to be selected from random drawings the opportunity to go hands-on with the Switch 2 ahead of its release. Nintendo has also provided a list of what appears to be the majority of these events complete with locations and dates, and it's this information that is particularly telling.
The locations include North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia, and there are 15 total individual events across all of these regions.
Nintendo's first outing for the Switch 2 will be in New York just a couple of days after the big Direct (April 4 - 6), and the final confirmed date currently is Seoul on May 31 - June 1, 2025. Both Hong Kong and Taipei are listed after Seoul in this chronologically ordered list, which seems to imply they'll take place after June 1, but that June date is something worth noting.
Considering that these dates are for preview events where the console is set to be showed off prior to its official launch, it stands to reason that the Nintendo Switch 2 will not be seeing its release date before that time.
Depending on how close the last two events on the list are to that June 1st mark, it's possible that the earliest we could see the Switch 2 launched is late June. It's also possible that those events might be spaced out further too, which would mean the console isn't coming until even later than that.
At the end of the day, though, these dates seem to narrow down the window of time when we can potentially expect to see the Nintendo Switch 2 released. From the looks of it, Nintendo's next piece of hardware is gearing up for a launch sometime in the latter half of 2025.
