The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating the city's fifth fatal shooting of the month after two men were found bleeding with gunshot wounds in southwest Tallahassee on Monday night.
Police were summoned to the 3200 block of Notre Dame Street at about 6:45 p.m. after a call about a possible shooting in the area.
"Upon arrival, officers located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds," TPD wrote in an incident alert posted on X. "Life-saving measures were performed by officers on scene. Both subjects were transported to a local hospital, with one of the subjects succumbing to their injuries."
A watch commander said she was unable to release any additional information about the city's latest homicide, including the age of those who were shot and any details on the circumstances of the shooting.
This is the fifth fatal shooting this month, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence. It's also the 26th fatal shooting this year, surpassing last year's total number of deadly shootings. So far in 2024, there have been at least 62 serious shootings in the capital city and county that have also led to 47 injuries. Last year, 24 people died and at least 72 people were injured in 87 shootings.
The highest number of deaths was recorded in 2020, reaching 28 murders.
