Woman killed by hit-and-run driver early Saturday in Daytona Beach

Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Saturday morning in Daytona Beach.FHP said the crash happened just after 1 a.m. near the intersection of West International Speedway Boulevard and Tomoka Farms Road. Troopers believe a vehicle traveling westbound on W International Speedway west of Tomoka Farms Road struck a woman that was walking from the north side of the road to the south side. The vehicle and driver continued heading westbound and fled the scene.The 27-year-old Daytona Beach woman hit by the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.FHP does not know anything more about the kind of vehicle involved or any identifying information about the driver and is seeking anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call them at 407-737-2213 or CrimeLine at 1-800-423-8477.
