VALLEJO -- The death of a Vallejo man back on June 16 has been determined to be a homicide, the Vallejo Police Department announced.
However, no charges are expected to be filed.
Vallejo police officers responded to an early morning report of a physical altercation at Magazine and Fifth streets.
"Witnesses on the scene stated that a male subject attacked his biological brother, who then held him down while waiting for officers to arrive. Witnesses then reported that the male being restrained became unresponsive, prompting his brother to initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation," the Vallejo police said in a statement.
"Upon arrival, VPD officers immediately took over life-saving efforts and continued CPR until emergency medical services arrived at the scene. Despite the extensive efforts of medical personnel, (Andrade) succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene."
The man who died has been identified by the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner's Office as Rogelio Reyes Andrade. He was 30.
The Vallejo Police Department's Detective Division took over this investigation and reported that the Coroner's Office ruled on Oct. 29 that the death was a homicide.
"Following a thorough investigation, VPD's Detective Division presented the case to the Solano County District Attorney's Office with a recommendation that no charges be filed. The Solano County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case and determined that no charges will be filed at this time," the Police Department reported.
This incident marks the 20th reported homicide in the city this year.
