"First Buddy" Elon Musk says he was given a new mission directly from Donald Trump to bring two NASA astronauts who have been stuck in space since June 2024 home "as soon as possible." Musk shared the news in a Tuesday tweet that he also used to slam the Biden administration. "We will do so," wrote Musk about retrieving the astronauts, tagging Trump and Space X's accounts in the message. He added, "Terrible that the Biden administration left them there so long." Astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore's trip to the International Space Station (ISS) was meant to last around 8 days until mechanical issues with both their return shuttle and its backup spacecraft delayed their return until March 2025, with plans to hitch a ride back to Earth on the shuttle that will bring NASA's SpaceX Crew-9 Mission to the ISS. Now Musk has indicated that he will use SpaceX to expedite their return. On Monday, Williams told a class of high school students, "I've been up here long enough right now I've been trying to remember what it's like to walk."
