The Goleta Thunder 12U Gold squad captured the Lindsay Rose Memorial Tournament title by defeating Camarillo Alpha by a score of 7-1 on Sunday in Goleta.
The hometown tournament victory is the Thunder's third of the All-Star summer season. The Thunder represent the Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association.
The Thunder went 4-0 on the weekend while dominating the field, outscoring their opponents 34-3 across the four wins.
Evie Bechler tossed seven strong innings in the championship game, allowing just one run and striking out eight batters. Olivia Carleton also roped a homer in the title matchup.
The win was capped off by a 9-3-5 double play by Arina Baltadano, Carleton and Cami Weiss.
"What an ending! This team continues to come together as we get ready to head to Western Nationals in Salem, Oregon at the end of the month," Thunder head coach Eric Buben said. "We have a great group of kids and hope they continue to believe in themselves.
"We're just happy for them all and hope they can realize their potential. We want to congratulate all our teams from 8U -14U this weekend and our league for hosting a great tournament."
The Goleta Thunder 12U All-Stars are Evie Bechler, Olivia Carleton, Reagan Cram, Cecily Benes, Karina Huie, Arina Baltadano, Bailey Conway, Sophia Munoz, Cami Weiss, Kylie Buben, Lucy Hendrick and Jasmine Rollman.
The coaching staff members are Julie Weiss, Chris Huie, Devany Bechler, Dan Carleton and Eric Buben.
