Registered runners such as Jane Carrasco received a headband, courtesy of Flex It Pink, in celebration of completing the 5K.
Runners enjoyed a brisk 5k run/jog/walk event at Brite Lake Saturday morning on a route that followed the shoreline and encompassed flat terrain well-suited for strollers and wagons. Despite temperatures in the high 40s and a bit of light rain, spirits were not dampened and runners and their fans enjoyed the annual event.
The event was again sponsored by Alta One Federal Credit Union and hosted by the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District under the leadership of Recreation Manager Sara Diaz. A mass start took place at 9 a.m. Each registered runner was entitled to a finisher's medal, hot chocolate mug and lots of hot chocolate. Health and fitness studio Flex It Pink donated headbands to each finisher.
In keeping with the Thanksgiving theme, a large frozen turkey donated by Alta One was awarded to each of the top three fastest male and female racers. Turkeys were also given to the top three best dressed participants.
