Chris Jones addresses Chiefs' defensive improvements

Following the Kansas City Chiefs' tough loss to the Buffalo Bills, defensive lineman Chris Jones didn't hold back in addressing the defense's struggles, particularly with the pass rush. Jones stressed the need for adjustments and accountability as the team prepares to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

"We've got to get him down," Jones said, reflecting on missed sack opportunities on Bills quarterback Josh Allen. "I'm there two times. They wrapped him up and didn't get him down. It's my mistake. It's a lot I can learn from that. But most importantly, when we're there, we've got to get him down."

The Chiefs have experienced a noticeable dip in sack production this season after ranking among the league's best last year. When asked about the decline, Jones acknowledged the challenge but was optimistic

"We're going to get better, man," he said. "Something we can build on, something we can do collectively as a whole. We've got seven more games in the year. It's a lot of football left to be played."

Jones also reflected on lessons from the Bills game, echoing defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's emphasis on critical moments.

"I think that it was a positive," Jones said. "It showed us where a game in 10 plays where we could have changed. Maybe the outcome could have been different. And you know, be critical of your own errors. I don't think we played our best game last game."

Looking ahead, Jones emphasized focusing on fundamentals and turning pressures into sacks against Carolina.

"We're not counting numbers right now," said Jones. "We'll see where we are at the end of the year."

Sunday's matchup presents a pivotal test for Kansas City's defense as they aim to reestablish their identity and regain their dominant form.
