It was a bad Thursday night for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson.
Not only did the Steelers lose to the Cleveland Browns in a snowy night, 24-19, but Wilson also got a double whammy of sorts when he was sent flying in the final play after taking a massive hit to the body.
For those who missed it, Wilson fell to his back and hit the snow-covered field after Browns linebacker Jordan Hicks hit him hard as he was about to throw the ball.
Sure enough, aside from the Steelers' shocking upset loss to the Browns, the hit that Wilson took to end the game was a hot topic among fans. Many were simply shocked to see it live and expressed concern for the quarterback, while others poked fun at the situation.
"I hope Russell Wilson is ok after that hit to end the game. He was in a snow angel position flat on his back," a commenter said.
Another supporter complained, "Once again, the NFL referees missed a call that could've been pivotal to the game's outcome. The late hit on Russell Wilson on the game's final play was completely ignored by the official standing just a few yards away."
"That hit Russell Wilson took to end the game.. SHEESH!" a third fan expressed in disbelief.
A commenter added, "Russell Wilson might wake up in Tampa on that hit."
"Steelers lose, Russell Wilson got hit hard on that last play lmaoooo," a fifth social media user laughed.
Russell Wilson finished the game with 270 yards and one touchdown on 21-of-28 pass completion. However, he was also sacked four times in the contest, as the Browns punished the Steelers' offense amid the freezing conditions.
