Cañon City Elks Lodge's to host annual Oktoberfest street party Saturday

It's time again for the Cañon City Elks Lodge's annual Oktoberfest street party from 2-10 p.m. Saturday on 4th Street between Main Street and Macon Avenue. The event will feature food, fun, beer and music, of course. Mosquito Pass will play from 2-6 p.m. and The Cleveland Experiment, recently relocated from Chicago, will play from 7-10 p.m. The public is asked to move all cars from the block prior to 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

This family-friendly event is open to the public with entrances on both Main Street and Macon Avenue. Admission is $10 with children 12 and under admitted free.

The Cañon City Elks Lodge supports the community's youth and provides funds to other non-profits in Cañon City. Each year, they sponsor a Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot for youth, offering local winners the opportunity to advance to district, state, and national competitions. On an annual basis, they provide 50 or more food and toy baskets for families needing a hand-up at holiday time. Another annual event they sponsor is a Flag Day event at the Bruce McCandless Veteran's Home. Every year, the Lodge presents funds to local non-profits which have included the Boys and Girls Club, Fremont Search and Rescue, The Bridge, The Orchard of Hope, Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center, the Cañon City Literacy Program, CASA, the Cañon City Volunteer Fire Department, Honor Flight of Colorado, and many others.

Public events like Oktoberfest make it possible for the Elks to raise additional funds to support these activities.
