Where did Adrian Wojnarowski go to college? Explaining former ESPN reporter's new GM position at St. Bonaventure

NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski left fans with one last "Woj Bomb," announcing his retirement from ESPN on Wednesday.

Wojnarowski became a legend of NBA Twitter and sports media for his swift breaking-news announcements. He had a history of reporting trades so quickly that players would find out they were on the move from his tweets. Turning on Wojnarowski's notifications became a mandatory tradition for NBA fans during free agency over the last decade-plus.

He spent 10 years at Yahoo Sports from 2007 to 2017 before taking his talents to ESPN from 2017 until 2024.

His career will now take a different turn, taking over as general manager of the St. Bonaventure men's basketball program.

What are Wojnarowski's ties to St. Bonaventure? The Sporting News takes a closer look below.

MORE: Why did Adrian Wojnarowski retire?

Wojnarowski is a proud alumnus of St. Bonaventure University.

He graduated in 1991 and frequently tweeted his support of St. Bonaventure.

St. Bonaventure is located in St. Bonaventure, New York.

St. Bonaventure is located in the southwest corner of New York. It is located 515 miles west of New York City and 70 miles south of Buffalo.

On the heels of his retirement from ESPN, Wojnarowski will take on a general manager role at St. Bonaventure.

"In his role as general manager, Wojnarowski will serve the coaching staff in managing a wide range of responsibilities including name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities and as a liaison with collectives; transfer portal management; recruit, family and alumni player relationships; professional player programs; and program fundraising," St. Bonaventure described his new position on its official release.

With the rapid growth and impact of NIL in college athletics, several schools have added a general manager role, particularly for their football and men's basketball programs.

"I'm hopeful to share with members of our community some best practices learned from the most successful franchises and minds in the NBA and committed to opening doors globally for our players both on and off the court," Wojnarowski said in St. Bonaventure's release.

Bonnies head coach Mark Schmidt called the hire a "home run," per the school's release.

Wojnarowski was born on March 4, 1969. He is 55 years old.

Wojnarowski made $7 million per year at ESPN, per The Athletic's Andrew Marchand and Alex Andrejev.

He is reportedly "walking away from $20 million with ESPN," leaving with three years remaining on his deal.
