After strong performance, Patriots DE selected for drug test

Keion White made his presence known in the New England Patriots' Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals between recording 2.5 sacks, making easy work of Trent Brown and making it difficult on quarterback Joe Burrow.

It was an impressive season debut. So impressive that the NFL took notice. White took to Instagram on Monday to reveal he was randomly selected to be drug tested.

"The boys got me on my day off," the defensive end posted to his Instagram story.

White had an impressive preseason that carried over into Week 1 of the regular season. With Christian Barmore potentially lost for the season after being diagnosed with blood clots and Matthew Judon getting traded to the Atlanta Falcons, the 25-year-old White is expected to have a bigger role for the team in 2024. He made the most of his opportunity on Sunday with four total tackles, two tackles for a loss and three QB hits to go along with his 2.5 sacks.

Replacing Judon won't be an easy task, but the second-year pass rusher continued to show he's up for the challenge as a rising star in New England. Judon even commented on White's recent Instagram post and appeared to give White the stamp of approval.

While it's very early in the new season, White showed a lot of promise and reason for optimism. Now it will be up to him to carry that into Week 2 and beyond.
