ISO New England has declared a "precautionary abnormal condition alert." It's hot and will remain that way most of the week, boosting electric use.
The power grid operator said all testing should stop until the heatwave passes.
"This notification alerts power system operations, maintenance, construction, and test personnel, as well as other market participants, that they should suspend any testing or maintenance on their resources that could affect grid reliability," ISO said. (Translation: Keep the power coming to operate air conditioners and fans.)
ISO added demand for electricity may hit the "highest levels thus far this summer." But, will remain "well within the ISO's forecasts entering the season."
