A chamber orchestra concert, an Early Music Festival concert and stage performances highlight weekend events on the North Olympic Peninsula.
* Violinist Erin Hennessey will be the guest soloist for chamber orchestra concerts at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Friday's concert will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave. in Port Angeles, and Saturday's will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. in Sequim.

Hennessey, who grew up in Clallam County, will perform with the Port Angeles Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jonathan Pasternack.
The program will feature Luigi Boccherini's Symphony in C major, Peteris Vasks' "Vox Amoris" and Igor Stravinsky's "Apollon Musagete."
The orchestra will perform another chamber concert featuring music by Elgar, Vivaldi and a new piece by Connor Chee on May 16-17.
* The 2025 Salish Sea Early Music Festival will present "The Canzona 2025" at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1020 Jefferson St. in Port Townsend.
Admission is by a suggested donation of $20 to $30 per person.
The program will focus on the birth of the canzona, a musical form inspired by early 16th century chansons, which evolved into the early 17th century baroque sonata.
The concert will feature special guest renaissance specialist Tina Chancey, the director of Hesperus in Washington, D.C., playing the tenor viol.
A viol is a stringed instrument that resembles a violin or cello, although it preceded them both. The tenor viol is larger than a violin and smaller than a cello.
The viol is sometimes referred to as a viola da gamba -- Italian for viol on the leg -- since it often was rested against the leg when playing. When violins were first introduced, they were called viola de braccio -- Italian for viol for the arm.
Chancey will join Vicki Boeckman on renaissance recorders; Jeffrey Cohan on renaissance transverse flutes; and Anna Marsh on the dulcian, a renaissance-era predecessor to the modern bassoon.

* Penny Featherbottom will host "Penny's Cabaret" at 8 p.m. Saturday at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St. in Port Angeles.
Tickets are $25 per person, $40 for VIP seating at www.outloudstoryslam.com. At the door, they are $5 more.
The show will feature burlesque performer Pistil Peach; draglesque performer Mike Drop; Clallam County poet laureate Jaiden Dokken; acrobats Mia Underwood and Logan Laxon; singer-songwriters C.V. Wells and Shannon Cosgrove; and Sequim-based drummer Peter Beeler.
Also performing will be Nicole Spiegel, a hula hooping roller skater.
* "One Family in Gaza" will be staged at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Chimacum Grange, 9572 Rhody Drive in Chimacum.
Admission is free, although donations to feed families in Gaza will be accepted.
The play, written by Crystal Zevon, is based on Facebook messages between her and a Gaza resident named Yasser since fall 2023.
Following the performance, Zevon will host a discussion and a Q&A session via Zoom.
Palestinian food and merchandise also will be available.
* The Field Hall Gallery will host a closing reception for the exhibit "Strong People, Strong Artists" from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The reception will be at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.
The exhibit is a tribute to the spirit of indigenous culture and the talent of the Klallam people.
During the reception, indigenous storytellers Jamie Valadez of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, Chris Jones of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe and Mackenzie Grinnell of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe will share stories.
The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
* The Thespian Society will stage its production of "The Witch's Princess" at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the auditorium at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave. in Port Angeles.
Admission is $10 per person, $8 for seniors and students. Those 6 and younger are admitted free.
* Dave Shreffler and Ann Soule will present "In Search of Sea Wolves: Kayaking in the Great Bear Rainforest" at 7 tonight at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St. in Port Angeles.
Shreffler and Soule, as part of the 2025 Adventure Travel series, will recount their search for sea wolves among the coastal rainforests of British Columbia.
Future presentations include "Hiking El Camino de Santiago" by John Teichert and "The Michinoku Trail, Japan" by Ann and Mike Nolan.

* Judy Stipe will present "Who Was That Lady?" at 9:30 a.m. Saturday during a hybrid meeting of the Clallam County Genealogical Society at the society's Resource Center, 403 E. Eighth St. in Port Angeles.
Stipe, the director of Sequim Museum and Arts, will discuss the pioneer women of Clallam County.
After Stipe's presentation, Roberta Griset will provide some hints on how to find the missing women in your family tree and how to tell their stories.

* The Bag of Books sale, hosted by the Port Angeles Friends of the Library, will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the entry lobby at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. in Port Angeles.
Bags will be provided and customers will be able to purchase as many books they can fit into the bag for $5.
Customers also may bring their Friends of the Library canvas tote bag and fill it for $3.
The Friends of the Library's book bags also are available; customers may buy a bag for $8 and fill it for free.
Proceeds will benefit special programs hosted by the North Olympic Library System.

* Alex MacCleod will call for a community dance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona St. in Port Townsend.
Music will be provided by Breaking Up Christmas featuring Dave Thielk on fiddle, Chris Cooper on banjo, Carol Hardy on guitar and Chris Stuart on bass.
All dances will be taught. Beginners and experienced dancers are welcome.
