With Thanksgiving this week, the holiday season is quickly getting into full swing with many looking to get their Christmas trees early.
Pinecrest Christmas Tree Farm has been open since Saturday and already is seeing double the amount of sales compared to this time last year.
Assistant manager Kris Goodenough says that a few factors could be raising the early sales, one being families want larger trees that are not available later in the season.
She says they're seeing a peak they haven't seen since pre-pandemic.
"Since COVID, we've gotten busier. I think more people wanted to come out and get trees and be outside since COVID. So the trend has been more and more people coming out to do this type of getting a tree instead of doing an artificial," Goodenough said.
Many were out today, taking a special horse drawn carriage into the farm to pick their own special tree.
One family who has been coming to Pinecrest for years say that coming early allows them to get the tree they want and share the experience with their daughter.
"The horses are a big draw, especially for her, just makes it more special, huh? And they always have hot chocolate after. It's just a really nice family experience creating memories that will cherish," Kristi Kacmarik said.
Those at Pinecrest say that making sure the up to 8000 seeds get planted in time to grow and combat any dry conditions is a year round process as they make sure that there are enough trees available.
"We did have quite a bit of dry conditions. But when we plant our seedlings in the spring, we start irrigating them right away, and we just keep on going all through summer and even fall this year, because we had a really dry September and October," Goodenough said,
Goodenough emphasizing that anyone wanting to make sure they have the largest chance to get the tree they want, should get out to a farm as early as they can.
