James Francis "Frankie" Cecil, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born Nov. 28, 1941, to the late Charles and Georgia Cecil. Frankie was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. He dedicated 15 years of his career to WR Grace, prior to becoming co-owner of Shady Rest BBQ with his best friend, Bobby Clark, for 31 years. Most of all, Frankie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending numerous sporting events and family get togethers.
In addition to his parents, Frankie is preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Cecil Jr.; brothers, Bernard Cecil, Bobby Cecil, Leon Cecil and Paul Cecil; and sisters, Marie Simmons and Sr. George Ann Cecil; brother-in-law's, J.C. Higdon and Robert Simmons; and sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Cecil.
