The 'Black Doves' star - who is married to musician James Righton and has Edie, nine, and four-year-old Delilah with him - will celebrate the milestone birthday in March 2025 and feels as if it will be "quite fun" because of where she and her children are at in life.
She told The Sunday Times: "Most of my friends have turned 40 and it looks rather great. My kids are at a point where suddenly I am getting a bit of life back. I feel like it might be quite fun."
The Hollywood actress had her breakthrough as a teenager in the sports drama 'Bend It Like Beckham' before going on to star in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Atonement' throughout the 2000s.
In more recent years, Keira has starred in the romantic drama 'Berlin, I Love You' and the comedy 'Misbehaviour' but admitted that she has surprised herself with what she has turned down.
She said: "I've been really surprised in the past few years about what I've said no to. I've wanted it to be more pure entertainment and maybe that's because I've needed that. I keep being offered things about children dying or about mothers dying. Can't do it." Now she appreciates Saturday-night family entertainment: "There's nothing more pleasurable than sitting down watching Strictly Come Dancing with your nine-year-old. It's f***ing fabulous.."
Despite her glamorous career, the 'Love Actually' star admitted that her daughters have no interest in watching her on screen and believe that actors should not play multiple parts.
She quipped: "She said actors shouldn't play [multiple] other characters. Well, we wouldn't live in this house, darling."
