The New York Yankees have already made contact with a possible replacement at first base.
Brian Cashman spoke to the media on Tuesday, and he was asked many questions about the team. The main focus was on possible offseason moves that the Bronx Bombers would make. The General Manager was asked about if Pete Alonso had come up in conversation when talking to agent Scott Boras.

"Yeah, sure he did," Cashman replied. "There's a lot of high-quality players in this market place and certainly Pete did an amazing job with the Mets, so I had a brief conversation with Scott about a lot of his free agents and Pete's one of them."
Alonso is one of multiple notable free agents represented by Boras. He is also the agent for some of the top players available like Juan Soto, Alex Bregman, Blake Snell, and Corbin Burnes.
The first baseman has spent his entire six-year career with the New York Mets. He had 34 home runs and 88 RBIs in 2024 while helping the team reach the NLCS. Alonso has 226 home runs and 19.8 wins above replacement throughout his career.
Anthony Rizzo was the Yankees' primary first baseman in 2024. He hit .228 with eight home runs in 92 games during the year. The team declined Rizzo's club option for 2025. He had been with the team since the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline.
Alonso is set to turn 30 in December and is expected to get a contract in the nine-figure range.
