BATON ROUGE - Brian Kelly said right before the 2024 regular season came to a close for LSU football that his program was positioned to be "very aggressive" in the transfer portal.

The Tigers coach stayed true to his promise as he and his staff were far more active and a presence this go around for a number of the top players that entered their names into the portal when it opened in early December.

LSU has signed more transfers during the post-regular season window than it did last year.

The NCAA transfer portal open Dec. 9 and will close Saturday, Dec. 28.

As of this writing, LSU football has landed 11 players out of the transfer portal. Per the 247Sports Composite, three of the 11 newcomers for the Tigers were rated as top 50 transfer portal players, led by Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Nic Anderson.

Over the years, LSU has landed some key transfers, headlined by its latest Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is now the starting quarterback with the NFL's Washington Commanders as a rookie.

The Tigers also found Kyren Lacy, who was a starting wide receiver during the 2024 season. In 2024, he put up 58 catches for 866 yards and nine touchdowns.

Major Burns and Mekhi Wingo were two of the best defensive players LSU has landed from the transfer portal the last handful of seasons. Burns, a starting safety, graduated this year and has been a multi-year starter for the Tigers. He finished with 49 tackles this season with a pair of fumble recoveries.

Former defensive tackle Wingo was a nice portal pickup for LSU. He had 98 career tackles at LSU and ended up being a sixth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
