Harley-Davidson store back in business days before Xmas after 3-month closure

A MUCH-loved Harley-Davidson store is open for business again just days before Christmas - after being closed for some three months.

The motorcycle dealership in Swannanoa, North Carolina, sustained heavy damage from Hurricane Helene back in late September 2024.

The large building even served as a base of operations during the crisis; housing storage and supplies for the relief group Savage Freedom.

In a post on their Instagram, they wrote: "We are thrilled to announce that we are reopening this Saturday Dec. 21, just in time for Christmas. We look forward to seeing you!"

Speaking to News 13, the store's General Manager, Steve Larson, said it was "time to reopen and welcome back customers."

He added: "A lot of gift giving right now, so a lot of people are coming in, getting clothes, maybe parts for their motorcycles, that sort of thing.

"But behind me, there's a tremendous amount of collectibles and gifts."

Larson also said that the store is in the "tail end" of finishing renovations.

The devastating storm left nearly 100 people dead across six states in the south-eastern US, and saw winds topping over 100mph along with flash floods laying waste to the region.

The Harley-loving owners handed down their legacy to a dealership group as they plan to retire.

The Cox family has owned and operated the shop in Rock Hill, South Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina, since 1961.

That was until motorbike fan Carson Baker, a rising star in the automotive industry, finally signed the dotted line this past week.

Now, Jan Cox, one of the owners, is looking forward to retirement and hopes that Baker will have the same success her family has enjoyed.

And elsewhere, riders are just learning that are Harley has a rare perk that can help customers pay for their purchases, but many likely have no idea it exists.

The motorcycle giant has an in-house way to help riders pay for any unexpected repairs.

Harley-Davidson Financial Services, launched in 1993, is a division of the business responsible for enabling customers to finance their motorcycles and related parts and accessories.

It also helps with motorcycle insurance and extended service plans that will respond to potential repair costs.
