NDGI earns 7th HireVets award

Navigator Development Group Inc. is honored to be a seven-time recipient of a HIRE Vets Medallion Award through the Department of Labor (DOL). U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie A. Su recognized Navigator as one of the 839 recipients of the 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Award during a recent virtual award ceremony.

Navigator received the Medium Platinum award, which is earned by businesses that demonstrate unparalleled commitment to recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans.

According to Su, recipients of the 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Awards meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, ranging from veteran hiring and retention to providing veteran-specific resources, leadership programming, dedicated human resources, pay compensation and tuition assistance programs.

Navigator has received one gold and six platinum awards since the program was created in 2017. The DOL recognizes large, medium, and small employers in two award tiers: platinum and gold. This is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans.

During the virtual award ceremony, Su congratulated the awardees and said while those companies come in all shapes and sizes from all over the country, they share one thing in common. "The heart, the grit, the dedication to invest in those who've worn the uniform," she said." Su noted in the past two years the 2024 awardees have hired over 71,000 veterans.

"This isn't an easy award to get and comes with some serious standards," she said.

Following the awards ceremony, Keith Gay, owner and CEO of Navigator said, "Hiring veterans is a top priority within our organization because they possess a substantial work ethic, offer unique skill sets, are extremely reliable, and always maintain an unwavering desire to continue serving our nation's warfighters." Currently, some 70 percent of Navigator's workforce is veterans, which proves our continued dedication to supporting the HIRE Vets program, he said.

In 2017, then President Donald J. Trump signed into law the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing (HIRE) American Military Veterans Act, creating the HIRE Vets medallion program.
