Billionaire Michael Krasny lists home in the Park Tower for $3.4M

Billionaire Michael Krasny, the founder of the CDW computer-sales empire, on Friday placed his three-bedroom, 4,200-square-foot condominium unit on the 50th floor of the Park Tower on Michigan Avenue on the Gold Coast on the market for $3.4 million.

In the early 1980s, Krasny, 71, formed what became CDW, and he took the company public about a decade later. He stepped down as CEO in 2001, and the firm was sold to private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners in 2007.

Krasny is setting himself up for a meaningful loss in the Park Tower. Through an opaque land trust that masks his identity, he paid $4.35 million in 2017 for the unit.

Features include 3-1/2 bathrooms, two outdoor terraces, an open floor plan with views in every direction but west, a kitchen with high-end appliances and a dining peninsula, and a primary bedroom suite with custom walk-in closets. The condo also has custom built-ins, walnut hardwood floors, organized storage and two garage parking spaces.

Listing agent Linda Levin declined to comment on the listing.

The condo has a $3,796-a-month homeowners association fee. It also had a $62,751 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year.

Krasny will continue to keep a Chicago presence. Through an opaque Delaware limited liability company, Krasny paid $5.1 million in August to buy a four-bedroom, 5,175-square-foot condo on the 13th floor of a Lincoln Park tower from former Altria CEO Michael Szymanczyk and his wife, Deborah.

Krasny previously had owned a contemporary-style home in Highland Park that he deeded to his former wife in 2019.
