He-said, she-said dispute at hotel may lead to charges: Middleburg Heights Police Blotter

A Cleveland man, 45, or a Lakewood woman, 39, might face criminal charges due to a dispute they had Jan. 15 at MainStay Suites, 7325 Engle.

The woman had called police at about 10 a.m. She said she and the man, her ex-boyfriend, had argued earlier, but the situation had calmed.

The woman said that during the argument, he shoved her, then she shoved him back. She said no additional violence occurred.

The man told police that the woman punched him in the face. He wanted police to arrest her.

Police didn't see any marks on the man's face.

When the woman heard what the man told police, she changed her story and said the man had elbowed her.

The man left the hotel. Police referred the matter to a prosecutor for possible charges.

Lost property: Bagley Road

A Middleburg Heights woman called police at about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 12 and said that her cell phone was missing and possibly stolen.

The woman said she and her husband had been at Baskin-Robbins, 17801 Bagley, earlier that night. After they left the ice cream store, she realized she didn't have her phone.

The woman used her husband's cell phone to connect with a tracking device in her phone. The tracking device seemed to indicate that her phone was at Baskin-Robbins.

The couple returned to Baskin-Robbins, but the manager said no phones where there. They searched the parking lot but didn't find the phone.

Police called the woman's cell phone twice, but both times the call went directly into voicemail.

At about 3 a.m. Dec. 13, the woman contacted police again and said that according to the tracking device, her phone was in Medina, then Wadsworth.

The couple said they would drive to Medina and Wadsworth to see if they could pinpoint the phone's location.

Nonviolent domestic dispute: Baldwin Court

Police were called to a Baldwin Court apartment building at about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 29 regarding someone screaming inside an apartment.

A 51-year-old man living in the apartment told police that he was arguing with his partner, a 52-year-old man.

He said his partner was upset because he was unable to find a certain board game.

The younger man said he walked away from his partner, who then fell and hit his head on a wall. The older man yelled for help, and the younger man helped him off the floor.

The older man said the argument started because the younger man had moved things around in the kitchen.

The older man said he fell after the younger man tried to push him out of the bedroom during the argument. He said, however, that the younger man wasn't trying to hurt him.

The older man had a bump on his head but said he didn't need medical treatment.

Police advised the men of domestic violence law, but didn't charge either of them due to lack of probable cause.
