The ultimate moment that sent the Red Bulls to the MLS Cup final against the heavily favored LA Galaxy on Saturday in Los Angeles was very much a Jersey moment.
John Tolkin, the Red Bulls' 22-year-old midfielder and native of Chatham, N.J., delivered a room-service set piece onto the head of teammate Andres Reyes on the far post two minutes into the second half of the Eastern Conference Final in Orlando.
Reyes buried the header for a 1-0 RBNY lead in what turned out to be a 1-0 victory to send the club to its first MLS Cup final since 2008.
When the goal was scored, Reyes' teammates mobbed him in front of the Orlando goal.
