LeBron James hasn't lost faith in Anthony Davis despite missed free throws

On Saturday, with 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the Los Angeles Lakers leading the Sacramento Kings 101-99, Anthony Davis missed two free throws. It hasn't exactly been the first time he has done so with a game on the line.

Last month, versus the Orlando Magic, he was in the exact same situation with 18 seconds left in the game, and his misses allowed Franz Wagner to nail the game-winning 3-pointer just before time expired.

But this time, forward Rui Hachimura batted out Davis' second missed foul shot to Austin Reaves, who was quickly fouled and made both of his ensuing free throws to salvage a 103-99 win.

One may think that Davis' teammates and his coaching staff have lost trust in him after his latest failure to hit clutch free throws. But LeBron James said during his postgame press conference that he hasn't lost faith in his superstar big man (h/t Fadeaway World).

Davis is shooting 78.1% from the free throw line this season, which is down from 81.6% last season. But overall, he's following up an outstanding 2023-24 campaign with an even more outstanding one. So far this season, he's averaging 26.9 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 blocks per game.

Although he had a very bad offensive game on Saturday with just 10 points, his 15 rebounds, five assists and three blocks were a major factor in the Lakers' third win in a row.
