The dispute arose earlier this year when Epic, acting on behalf of its customer governing council, filed a complaint with Carequality against Particle Health. Epic alleged that certain Particle customers were improperly accessing patient medical records for purposes unrelated to patient care, potentially violating privacy regulations.

Call for Transparency

Epic has now stated it will not appeal the Carequality Steering Committee's resolution, which is scheduled to take effect this Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. The company believes that delaying the resolution through an appeal process would further prolong the uncertainty and hinder the restoration of trust in healthcare data interoperability.
