Hugh Jackman and his Broadway co-star, Sutton Foster, are said to be privately navigating a budding romance amid her divorce from her husband, Ted Griffin.
However, according to a new report, Jackman's ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, has been "suspicious" of Foster before her split from the "X-men" star.
Hugh Jackman and the Australian actress announced their divorce last September after almost three decades of marriage and two kids.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, Furness was concerned about Jackman and Foster teaming up to star in the Broadway production of "The Music Man" in 2022, a year before the actor revealed he was getting divorced from the 68-year-old.
"Deborra-Lee had her suspicions when Hugh started working with Sutton," the source said. "Their relationship is not a secret to her."
"Deborra-Lee wants to be left out of this narrative," they added. "She is not going to address this or speak against Hugh. When they divorced, they agreed to keep everything that happened during their marriage private."
Jackman and Furness shocked many when they announced last year that they were calling it quits on their marriage after 27 years together. The actors share adopted kids, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19.
Another insider told the news outlet that Jackman still respects his ex-wife, Furness, although he is done mourning his divorce from her and has now moved on with his Broadway co-star, Foster.
The insider said, "Time has passed for Hugh to mourn his divorce, and now Sutton is over her relationship; they are getting closer to making it official."
"They aren't going to shove it down everyone's throat," they added. "They became close friends while working together and got to confide in each other over their individual troubles."
The source further noted: "Hugh still has tremendous respect for Deborra-Lee. They have kids and that is what is important to them both. They are repairing what they can and will never talk ill about each other."
Last year, Jackman and Furness gave a statement explaining why they were getting a divorce, emphasizing that it was all done amicably.
"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth," the statement read, per People Magazine.
It continued, "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
Concluding their message, the ex-couple signed off with "Deb and Hugh Jackman" while adding that that would be their only official statement about their marriage ending.
In an earlier report, an insider told the Daily Mail how Furness managed the heartbreak she felt after her separation from Jackman. They noted that the actress focused more on her career as she navigated being single again.
"She's taking things slow and steady but trying to embrace her new normal," the source said. "Instead of romance, she has leaned into work as her saving grace as she moves forward with life without Hugh."
They added, "She is eager and excited, along with being apprehensive, to dive into a relationship and love again. She has to find herself again, and then everything else will fall into place. It will take some time, but she is getting better every day."
After it was announced that Foster had filed for divorce from her husband, Griffin, sources shared that she and Jackman were in a relationship after "falling in love."
Although it is unclear when exactly the duo started dating, their romance is said to have begun around the time they starred in "The Music Man."
The pair were cast in the Broadway revival of the iconic show in 2019, and it was expected to open in theaters in October 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the opening was delayed until early 2022, with the show ending in January 2023.
Insiders have now shared that Jackman and Foster's connection has blossomed deeply.
"They are 100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together," a source told Page Six.
According to the source, the couple prefers to keep things under the radar for now, and "they go out of their way to hide it, but it's common knowledge."
