Santa Ynez Pirate PTO feeds 850 students for finals week with help from community

Santa Ynez Pirate PTO once again came through with help from the community, providing students with snacks before school and during a mid-morning break during finals week.

"If you believe the little things make the big things happen, Food for Finals is one of those things," said SYHS Superintendent Kimberly Sheehan. "We are incredibly fortunate to live in the Santa Ynez Valley where parents and community members consistently come together to support our students."

According to organizers, 850 students were powered up by a team of 25 parent-volunteers who turned out on campus to support the three-day finals week.

Contributing to the trove of snacks were Buellton's Drover's Donuts and Panaderia La Victoria who donated breakfast items. El Rancho provided breakfast burritos and a number of parents made monetary donations and helped fulfill the PTO's Amazon food item wish list.

"Providing food during finals is just one example of the amazing care and commitment our PTO, parents, and community show to invest in one of our most valuable resources, our students," said Sheehan. "This collaboration reflects the heart of Santa Ynez Valley Union High School."

Food for Finals will be held again in May at the end of the 2024/2025 school year.
