PONTIAC -- Donald Leon Karr, 73, of Pontiac, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, surrounded by his family at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL after a short illness.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac. A private family burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery in Wapella, IL.

Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Don was born March 2, 1951, in Clinton, IL to Charles Herbert and Margaret (Summers) Karr. He married Kathleen Paul on April 13, 1984, in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac.

Also surviving are his brother, Ronald Karr of Saunemin, IL; sister, Carolyn (Delmar) Martin of Saybrook, IL; sons, Christopher (Rachel) Hale of Huntley, IL and JohnLee (Stacey) Karr of Pontiac, IL; daughter, Rachael (Chris) Greenan of Pontiac, IL; 12 grandchildren, Brittany Hale, Caitlin Hale, Delaney Hale, Christian Hale, Cassie Lugo, Sophia Karr, Brody Karr, Eva Karr, Luke Karr, Kailey Conkle, Kyra Miller, and Aris Greenan; two great granddaughters, Aria Cardoso and Lena Cardoso.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marjorie Burris.

Don was a 1969 graduate of Chenoa High School. He attended Illinois State University for one year before being drafted. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, from 1971 to 1974. He was employed at RR Donnelley for 13 years before retiring.

Don was an excellent athlete during his school years and a sports fan as an adult. He was an avid bowler until health issues caught up with him. He loved his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
