Two men face drug charges following a months-long narcotics investigation in Decatur.
The Morgan County Sheriff's Office says they were conducting surveillance on a residence on the 200 block of 6th Avenue NW in Decatur on Tuesday. During the operation, a traffic stop was conducted on one of the suspects of the investigation.
Agents say that during the stop, Tariq Dewayne Baugh, 31, of Decatur, threw some marijuana from the window of his vehicle. He was placed under arrest and faces charges including dangerous drug distribution, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of dangerous drugs.
Baugh was taken to the Morgan County Jail. His bond is set at $753,800.
After continuing to conduct surveillance at the residence, agents attempted to do a traffic stop on Antonio Cortez Anderson, 28, of Decatur. Agents attempted to stop Anderson on Memorial Drive NW. They say Anderson then fled. Agents pursued Anderson through Decatur until he eventually stopped on 23rd Avenue SW.
Anderson faces charges of possession of dangerous drugs and attempting to elude a police officer.
Anderson is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Agents executed a search warrant at the residence. They say they found cocaine, marijuana, and firearms. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are likely.
