CHARLOTTE -- Mooresville made it four victories in a row Friday night, stepping out of conference play to upend Providence 18-6.

Ja'darius McCombs' 2-yard touchdown run coupled with a safety lifted the Blue Devils to a 9-0 halftime lead.

Providence scored with 8 minutes to go in the third quarter on a long pass play, but the Blue Devils answered with about 2 minutes left in the period. Nate Garbe scored on a 2-yard TD run to make it 15-6.

Andrew Cummings' 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter produced the final score.

Mooresville (5-1, 2-0) resumes Greater Metro Conference play this coming Friday when it travels to South Iredell (4-2, 2-0) for a first-place showdown.
